At the “department of biolocial science, geolocical and environmental”,of Catania University, are exposed three important collections; palantheology, mineralogy, petrography and volcanology, mineropetrographicy measuring instruments, geophysicist and geochemists.
The paleontology collection have been established afther the second worl war, the collection of fossil of the Baron Bonaventura Gravina and MR. Viglino.
Starting from the sixties there was an considerable encrease of the eritage that now comprehed fossil of the mediterranean area, South East of the Asia, South America and Antarctit,Indian Ocean, Pacific and Atlantic Ocean; as well palanteological findings of collectors and scholars Principe of Biscari, Giuseppe Gioieni, Carmelo Maravigna, Andrea Aradas, Benedettini Monastery, Gioienia Accademy, Giuseppe Alessi, Carlo Gemmellaro:an intresting and unique heritage from the scientific point of wiew, historical and educational didactict.
