The blue thread Catania and the sea

The route indicated in this itinerary will allow you to visit the archaeological and historical remains of Catania that survived the frequent seismic catastrophes and the eruptions of Etna.

This route is arranged along the coast of the city. Starting from the Port you reach Piazza Giovanni XXIII, seat of the Railway Station; continuing, in Viale Africa we find the Cultural Exhibition Centre Le Ciminiere. Once in Piazza Europa take Viale Ruggero di Lauria (promenade). At about one hundred meters we meet S. Giovanni Li Cuti, an old fishing village. Returning to the avenue of Lauria, at the end, we reach the port of Ognina, characterized by the old quarter that is located around the church of S. Maria di Ognina.
